Now where have I seen all this before, cutting military and veterans health and benefits?
Oh ya as we came back from Vietnam, and during, and the Decades after!
You see that's 'shared sacrifice' coming from the peoples representatives as the people yawn. Congress did little to nothing, as tepub cons rubber stamped no bid private war contractors contracts, as to military health and veterans budget, think Walter Reed and Backlogs on returning Vets care on outdated tech equipment, while sending troops into not one but two wars of choice.
Finally things started happening in the 110th and 111th but now in the 112th the House has already started chipping away and now the Senate is coming onboard seeking more!
Funny, Not, how none of them nor those they represent are demanding They Cut Their Own, as the Country Still Is Not Demanding Their Sacrifice, a Decade Long Now, added to the Previous Decades!
Easier to lay blame on the agencies, which is the peoples responsibility!!
October 19, 2011 - Leading members of the Senate Armed Services Committee are pushing for changes to military members' health and annuity benefits as a way to cut government spending.Sens. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and John McCain, R-Ariz., last week submitted recommendations to the deficit reduction super committee in support of the Obama administration's cost-saving proposal released last month. The plan would mandate annual fees under TRICARE-for-Life, which pays beneficiaries' out-of-pocket Medicare costs. Fees would start at $200 in 2012 and increase annually to align with those paid by all TRICARE enrollees.
The proposal also would eliminate pharmacy co-payments for generic mail-order drugs while shifting retail co-pays from a dollar figure to a percentage. The change would affect military families and retirees, but would not apply to active-duty service members. The administration also recommended the creation of a panel to look at reforming military retirement benefits. read more>>>
