September 27, 2011 - Soon Utah homeless veterans will have a place they can call home.The Department of Veteran's Affairs announced plans Tuesday to build a 72-unit facility called "Valor House" to help homeless veterans get back on their feet.
"On any given night we have a count of 330 homeless veterans. And so our goal is to get these veterans housed and into the programs so they can move out into the communicty," said director of Homeless Veterans Program Al Hernandez.
The unit will be located on the V.A. campus in Salt Lake City and will also offer support services such as mental health and substance abuse counseling, medical treatment, and job placement.
"This is going to give vets a place that they can call home for a while, and get the help they need," said Salt Lake City Housing Authority Executive Director Bill Nighswonger. read more>>>
