09/16/11 - Two senators are concerned that the Veterans Affairs Department might not have enough funding to handle the growing demand for veterans' healthcare.Burr and the so called conservative mentality, all the tepubs and some dems, only think of and may act on Veterans issues when they feel that need to wave our flag and show those patriotic meme's are as strong as the national security ones they destroyed this past decade and it fits in with holding their jobs. The past decade only proved beyond doubt what many of us have known for the previous decades. There used to be real republicans one could work with and at least get some of the battles won, which should never have had a need for us to fight, no more, again as shown during the previous decade and their two rubber stamped wars of choice. Like PTSD and ignoring Veterans for decades only now can't be with these two still ongoing wars of choice, as well as finally realizing that the same exists in the much wider civilian populations and not just from wars and occupations! The blame the VA in hearings is well beyond the disgusting as well, for the VA should have been fully funded from the start, with only needs of updating as it and technology advanced, thus saving monies and not costing huge sums to catch up or clear up what that Peoples Agency problems within come to the forefront from the under fundingSenate Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and ranking member Richard Burr (R-N.C.) sent a letter to Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki on Thursday requesting the agency's budget projections for fiscal 2012 and asking for assurances that they can deliver the needed level of healthcare.
The increase in demand for healthcare, coupled with the lower-than-expected Medical Care Collections Fund (MCCF) collection rate, along with recent reports regarding staffing reductions and emergency budget cuts at certain medical centers, has raised concerns about funding and "underscores the critical need to ensure resources are being maximized" and spending requests accurately estimated, they said.
"If the estimated savings for fiscal years 2012 and 2013 do not materialize and VA receives appropriations in the amount requested by the president, VA may have to make difficult trade-offs to manage within the resources provided," the senators wrote. read more>>>
For one just think 'purple heart bandages' and the smiles and laughter with, as they were sending soldiers into these two theaters!
