Where are all those, many very wealthy, 'Celebrity Supporters' of 'Wounded Warrior Project' like Trace Adkins, Gary Sinise, Alec Baldwin, Bill O'Reilly, presidential candidate Donald Trump {who recently created his own poser patriotic 'support the troops', for political points, slush fund}, there are plenty more. Especially those like Adkins, Sinise and others and the high profile ads made and also brought in for gatherings as speakers and more at the orgs. events?
All or most still high rollers in the cash compensation who got huge tax cuts along with the flag waving, poser, patriotic wars. Supporters of the policies to extremely quickly abandon the missions and those sent to accomplish after 9/11!
March 30, 2016 - The Wounded Warrior Project found itself steeped in controversy again late Tuesday after its board of directors abruptly scrapped a meeting set for early next week with the charity's founders. The founders accused the directors of calling off the session out of concern that it could lead to negative revelations about the directors. The founders assert the board had a role in the organization's alleged financial mismanagement.
The project helps U.S. troops wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The group's two top executives, Chief Executive Officer Steven Nardizzi and Chief Operating Officer Al Giordano, were fired by the board March 10 after a CBS News investigation found the project spends 40 to 50 percent of its donations on overhead, including extravagant parties. Other veterans charities have overhead costs of 10 to 15 percent.
snip The AP said Melia "launched the project on a shoestring budget in 2003 after reflecting on his experience being injured in a helicopter crash off Somalia. Years later, he was replaced as CEO by Nardizzi, a lawyer who brought an aggressive entrepreneurial style to the charity and turned it into an $800 million fundraising enterprise."
A meeting to discuss a possible renewed role for John Melia and his brother, Jim, another founder, was slated for Monday.
But late Tuesday night, the Melias blasted the board. In a Facebook post titled, "Wounded Warrior Project board of directors turns its back on founders," Jim said he and Jim were told by the directors the meeting was off and the "reason for the cancellation was that John had revealed that there would, in fact, be a meeting. For a Board that has publicly touted its intention to increase transparency, this seems to be both ridiculous and counterintuitive. read more>>>
Were they compensated for the ads and public appearances for the organization and now nothing in it for them?
The ads certainly couldn't be looked at as 'public' PSA's for an "aggressive entrepreneurial style charity turned into an $800 million fundraising enterprise", modeled on corporate capitalism of today's bottom line ideologies, conservatives long want in privatizing the government especially the VA for corporate profit with very little if any regulations, and set up as a non profit! Did they instead, after all with them tax cuts they certainly weren't contributing any fair share to any war costs nor the still ongoing long term results from those policies and, DeJa-Vu, the long term care for the Veterans of, the people served responsibility the Veterans Administration, contribute their time for the ads and a few bucks for the kitty, the lavish spending needs!
Why nothing from any of them, haven't heard a peep, but certainly not surprised, as a Vietnam vet myself!
DeJa-Vu: “With no shared sacrifices being asked of civilians after Sept. 11", Decades and War From, All Over Again!! Especially for the Corporate and Wealthy Community, investors in Defense Industries, and for these, Afghanistan and Iraq, came Two Huge Tax Cuts, with more sweetheart deals to same from states and the fed!! People served, especially wealthy and all conservatives: * 2 Aug 2015 - 'I fight like hell to pay as little as possible': Donald Trump says he avoids all the tax he can.
