Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Thursday offered a striking rebuttal to criticisms of his anti-war views, saying that he is opposed to war because of its lasting physical and mental toll on America’s veterans.
“War should be in my view, the last resort of a great nation. We should explore every other option -- and I know that opens up the political types: ‘Oh, you’re wimpy. You don’t want to go to war.’ Well, I don’t accept that. I’ve talked to too many people who came home without legs, without eyesight, with traumatic brain injury,” he said in an interview with the Des Moines Register.
The Democratic presidential hopeful has long opposed war: as an activist, he protested the Vietnam War, and as a congressman, he railed against the Iraq War.
But Sanders also cares deeply for military veterans and has spent much of his legislative career fighting for better health care, jobs and educational opportunities for veterans. As chairman of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee last year, he brokered a bipartisan deal to pass a bill allocating $17 billion to reform the VA health care system and reduce backlogs at VA hospitals (though veterans continue to experience severe delays in receiving care). read more>>>
About this: "(though veterans continue to experience severe delays in receiving care)" Convenient regular conservative push to media hyped, with help from government employee's to create some bringing their politics pass the doors and into the facilities to create havoc or as reported widely 'scandals' as news about parrots out far and wide, for that 'poser patriotic' support often repeated over same or similar issues as congress. The peoples served direct representatives, with conservative obstruction, total lack of doing their jobs, over and over, with the occasional legislation passed with flag waving, 'support?', poser patriotism, unfunded and not maintained so it can rise again, legislation passed to move on to later brought up as attacks on VA personal for not implementing completely. While obstructing budget requests so that and more legislation can be implemented and properly maintain, causing more problems to be created! Then more attack hearings with more of the same of reps, and their staffs, doing nothing after, DeJa-Vu for Decades and Wars, Especially, of!!
How long have you been a part of the tech advances, work and play, quickly buying the rapid advances, off the shelf, while Not Sacrificing as to your Promises and Especially Responsibility to those few who've served you while you claim that, Poser, flag waving patriotism and words with cheap symbols of 'support' then quickly either ignore or out right deny the many issues of the few who've served you, especially in our wars?! DeJa-Vu, all over again, as Tommy Sowers asked “Why in 2009 were we still using paper?” after adding two more military invasions, abandoning extremely quickly the missions and those sent to accomplish after 9/11, and long deadly and destructive, quickly adding to the needs of our Veterans community, your Responsibility the Veterans Administration while Not Sacrificing yourselves, two tax cuts, huge for the wealthy, occupations to our past lists of same!!
Neither of these recent wars have yet been paid for, nor the continued blowback from the spread and growth from the policies implemented!
Neither the long term results from, including the long ignored or outright denied existence of, till this Administrations Cabinet and Gen Shinseki, only Government branch consistent for the past six years, Veterans issues from!
As well as under deficits most of the, grossly under funded for decades and the wars from now, VA budget is still borrowed, with interest, thus added problem creating costs, with representative who control the purse strings blaming the mostly dedicated VA personal within, that shouldn't exist!
As to those running:

Actually there is no 'republican party', the Trump is just the latest to prove that now three or four decade reality, under the bush and those conservative congresses they buried what was already in the grave!
Hillary: Will she continue what finally started with Sec Shinseki and the Executive branch Cabinet continuing under Sec McDonald, with still obstructed and grossly under built and not properly maintained and grossly under funded, especially as to our wars, Maybe. As she's got Bill beside her and, with no wars and Sec Cleland, they tried finally to rebuild the VA only to be constantly obstructed by congressional conservatives. If you jump on the media hyped VA 'scandals' you don't know a thing about what's really been going on, but those served love it that way, even the attack hearings with no resolutions only condemnations!
Sanders: He will continue what the Obama administration has ongoing from day one, but will only succeed in even very small victories, like Obama, with another legislative power conservative congressional houses and them regurgitated needed media hyped 'scandals'.
If Biden runs: He also will try, he's got Jill by his side and you can bet even Michelle to continue helping after, but also needs the controlling numbers in congress to actually succeed.
If it can be continued to re-build, or build as promised, it will be cheaper to maintain and operate, but war brings very rapid build ups of needs!!!!
