Veterans' Suicides is not a new Veterans' issue either outright ignored or just plain denied exists as those doing make very comfortable livings setting the talking points meme's used by these lawmakers hired by the, poser patriots, served so they have no need to demand they sacrifice! There's a very long list, especially from our wars the very few are sent into, they and their families expected to sacrifice for those that won't in any form!!
"namely, what he believes is an unnecessary cost"
And a quote back to war costs and with no-bid corporate contracts rubber stamper, pride in nick name 'doctor no', but not with a conservative executive branch and congresses doing extremely little for Veterans especially, Sen Coburn:
And from:
12 December 2014 - Richard and Susan Selke, the mother and stepfather of Iraq and Afghanistan veteran Clay Hunt, talk with Rachel Maddow about the features of a bill named for their son, designed to help prevent veteran suicides, and why Senator Coburn is blocking it.
Neither of these recent wars have yet been paid for, let alone the results from, including the long ignored or outright denied existence of, till this Administrations Cabinet and Gen Shinseki, only Government branch consistent for the past six years, issues! As well as under deficits most of the, grossly under funded, VA budget is still borrowed thus added, problem creating, costs that shouldn't exist! Add in the growth and spread of the deadly dangerous blowback from the extremely failed policies that destroyed that pandora's box!!
December 12, 2014 - An effort to get a veterans suicide-prevention bill passed in the final days of the 113th Congress faces one remaining hurdle: an anonymous hold.“As far as we can tell, we have the support of nearly every single U.S. senator, Democrat, Republican, except perhaps just one,” said Alex Nicholson, the legislative director for the advocacy group Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. “The holds are anonymous.”
But veterans advocates have a suspect for who is behind the procedural roadblock: Sen. Tom Coburn.
The group took to Twitter to try to increase pressure against the Oklahoma Republican, asking their followers to call his office. It also tweeted at Coburn’s account with stories from Oklahoma veterans and their families affected by suicide.
snip Coburn’s office didn’t respond to request for comment, but sent out a release Friday listing the senator’s concerns with the legislation—namely, what he believes is an unnecessary cost. read more>>>
"And when you add up to the Department of Defense, Department of State, CIA, Veterans Affairs, interest on debt, the number that strikes me the most about how much we're committed financially to these wars and to our current policies is we have spent $250 billion already just on interest payments on the debt we've incurred for the Iraq and Afghan wars." 26 September 2014
