As up to these two present wars, abandoning the missions and those sent to accomplish so quickly after 9/11 to invade and occupy Iraq after the growing louder beats of the wars drum, PTS was ignored along with so many other issues from our wars by those served, the poser patriots, and as to PTS, and others, completely denied they even exist so no need to Sacrifice to pay for the expensive treatments and care for the Veterans' of!! Which also damaged the care needs of the civilian populations and those in that suffered from the trauma's inflicted causing misdiagnoses and treatments to help them!!
Since its founding in 1989, the mission of the VA's National Center for PTSD has been "to advance the clinical care and social welfare of America's Veterans and others who have experienced trauma, or who suffer from PTSD, through research, education, and training in the science, diagnosis, and treatment of PTSD and stress-related disorders."Dr. Matthew Friedman, the Center's Executive Director from 1989 through 2013, reflects: "The Center's research and educational initiatives helped establish the scientific basis for PTSD, and disseminated that information globally."
Dr. Paula Schnurr, Acting Executive Director, looks forward: "We have come a long way in the past 25 years, but there remains much more to be done."
