July 16, 2014 - In testimony before the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Acting Secretary of Veterans Affairs Sloan D. Gibson outlined serious problems regarding access to healthcare and key actions the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has taken to get Veterans off wait lists and into clinics.“The trust that is the foundation of all we do – the trust of the Veterans we serve and the trust of the American people and their elected representatives –has eroded,” said Acting Secretary Gibson. “We have to earn that trust back through deliberate and decisive action, and by creating an open and transparent approach for dealing with our stakeholders to better serve Veterans.”

July 15, 2014 - Under Secretary Hickey Announces Actions in Congressional HearingThe Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) today announced several actions the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) is taking to ensure the integrity and accuracy of claims systems and processes. Under Secretary for Benefits Allison Hickey outlined the actions in testimony before the House Veterans Affairs Committee late Monday evening.
“The Veterans Benefits Administration takes seriously its commitment to providing timely, accurate benefits, and maintaining the integrity of our systems and processes,” said Under Secretary for Benefits Allison Hickey. “We have many checks and balances in our systems and data, and we are working to add even more as we improve delivery of earned benefits.”

July 15, 2014 - Officials from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) met with Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) today to discuss an upcoming acquisition to replace VA’s aging medical scheduling software.VA leaders, along with agency IT and health care experts, met with leaders from 9 VSOs to discuss requirements for the medical software system replacement. This meeting provided VA leaders a valuable opportunity to hear Veteran opinions and insights about critical aspects of the new system, which will provide VA the ability to seamlessly coordinate care across facilities and enable more accurate scheduling of facilities, clinicians, and administrative support. read more>>>
