The Country Served that 'Talks the Talk', way too much and with symbols, especially the so called conservatives, privatize for corporate profit agenda, and that includes the veterans within those ranks, but very rarely 'Walks the Walk', especially through their representatives, federal and states!!
May. 7, 2014 - One in four recently separated U.S. veterans may not be able to consistently put food on their tables, according to a new report released Wednesday. The Public Health Nutrition journal study, titled “Food Insecurity & Iraq/Afghanistan Veterans,” surveyed more than 900 young veterans and found 27 percent reported problems with getting enough food for three meals a day. That’s about twice as high as the overall national rate.
Study author Rachel Widome, a University of Minnesota health professor, called the findings “shocking and disheartening.” Investigators launched the study two years ago after tracking reports about financial hardships among young veterans.
“We really had no idea how common it was that Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans were struggling to afford food,” she said. “Given anecdotal accounts, I thought food insecurity might be somewhat of an issue, but really had no idea of the extent.”
About 12 percent of the veterans surveyed were classified as having “very low food security,” marking severe difficulties in reliably getting meals. read more>>>
Congress, in Veteran Marchbanks statement, are the people served and who representatives work for, or are supposed to!
It isn't only related to the Veterans Administration budgets, decades long and wars from under funded and in this recent decade plus two unpaid for wars and extremely long occupations from, with multiple tours by the few who serve the Country. It's also about Government investment into economic growth and job producing investment needs like infrastructure and research and development in many area's, partnering with the private sector. Conservative ideologies have blocked all that investment, including full funding of the VA, thus causing extremely slow economic growth coming out of their created huge recession and government deficits. War costs all rubber stamped on the countries credit card with those and related costs off the books till the Executive branch changed, with yet no call for the Country Served to Sacrifice themselves, DeJa-Vu!
two tax cuts, especially huge for the wealthy, with not a bit of guilt conscious for, came with these two recent unpaid for wars, nor the results of, DeJa-Vu all over again from the previous decades and wars from! Ignore the many issues, by those served, no need to fund!
And what do the Countries lawmakers in Congress rapidly jump on board to address before investigating, Conservative Veterans Affairs Ideology, with the lead from the National, always reactive not proactive, Veterans group the American Legion, Fire Gen. Shinseki!
WHY? GOOD QUESTION THOSE SERVED SHOULD ANSWER!
Speaking of the, always reactive never proactive, American Legion a visit to their site shows absolutely nothing about this released report, not surprised. And still shows nothing about the total lack of Sacrifice, nor demanding same, from the Country Served, it's never the Countries Responsibility but the fault of the mostly Dedicated Civil Servants, there's always a few bad apples in any big organization and in government that bring their politics to their jobs and not just talk in those political terms, and many Dedicated Volunteer's especially when under a Democratic administration, when Conservative they and the other National Groups lay praise on the VA Secretaries, again no surprise. But looks like they are recruiting, again, on the call to fire Gen Shinseki and any other problems due mostly to the underfunding within the VA!
Ed O’Keefe, congressional correspondent for the Washington Post, talks with Rachel Maddow about whether the VA backlog is a matter of bureaucratic failure or an outright scandal and what that means for the politics of the issue.
