A clear majority, 69%, indicated they feel that civilians don't have any real understanding of their experience.
This is the sad reality as reported in a Washington Post survey conducted over the last few months. On the civilian side, we've known for years that the divide is felt. This TIME Magazine piece by my friend Mark Thompson covers the bases nicely.
This new survey looks at the other side, though. It is some of the strongest evidence to date that the civil-military gap is also alive and well in the military and veteran communities.
And who can blame us? From the mockery of Kroll Show's movie trailer Drones to the over-the-top thriller Zero Dark Thirty, civilians receive nothing that accurately depicts military life. Even the parodies are obviously meant for civilians - it's a joke based on a joke. read more>>>
