Surprised, Not a freakin bit, Same Ole, Same Ole and for decades, as they've sought to keep the VA under funded thus creating problems they can attack the VA personal about as they seek to privatize for corporate profits, and the wars from! But especially this past decade plus and two long wars and occupations after abandoning the missions and troops quickly after 9/11!!!
"12 years also is a long time. We now have a lifetime responsibility to a generation of service members, veterans and their families." Dr. Jonathan Woodson 11 Sep. 2013: With 9/11 Came Lifetime Responsibility
Two tax cuts, especially for the wealthy, came with these two recent unpaid for wars, nor the results of, DeJa-Vu all over again! Ignore the many issues, by those served and the families of, no need to fund!
February 27 2014 - A broad Department of Veterans Affairs bill that would have expanded benefits for former service members and repealed a military pension cut for future troops was rejected in the Senate on Thursday. The measure, sponsored by Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Bernard Sanders (I-Vt.), did not garner enough Republican votes to waive a VA spending limit established under the budget Congress and President Obama approved in December. Sanders’s office estimated that his legislation, which included more than 140 provisions, would have cost $21 billion over 10 years.
On Tuesday, GOP lawmakers tried to trim the VA bill and add sanctions on Iran for that nation’s nuclear program. Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) blocked those attempts.
Veterans groups expressed frustration with the bill’s failure, saying it fell victim to Washington’s partisan politics. The measure was four votes shy of a 60-vote threshold required for it to have advanced.
“I don’t know how anyone who voted ‘no’ today can look a veteran in the eye and justify that vote,” said Daniel M. Dellinger, national commander of the American Legion. “Our veterans deserve more than what they got today.” read more>>>
There's only one branch of Government, Federal and States, consistently doing for not only us Veterans' but also the Military personal and their Families. Without the control of the Countries purse strings, combining the Cabinet agencies abilities to help where possible with their budgets and charged responsibilities. That's the whole Executive branch under President Obama. Doing what Congress, State legislatures, in passing feel patriotic support bills that are unfunded, and the people represented by them and served by the Military refuse to do, Sacrifice, especially the wealthy, them 'job creators'!
