October 23, 2013 - A three-county special court for veterans may be operational before Jan. 1.The Allegan County Board of Commissioners earlier this month formally accepted a one-year, $108,095 grant from the State Court Administrative Office to establish a veterans court whose jurisdiction includes Allegan, Van Buren and Barry counties.
"My hope has been to have it at the end of the year actually operational," Allegan County District Court Judge William Baillargeon said.
"Administratively, I think it's falling into place," he told Allegan County commissioners of progress for creating the court. He has been working with other agencies, including the Veterans Administration, as well as finding mentors for offenders. read more>>>
