May 02, 2013 - Jonn Lilyea says he has helped expose more than 300 stolen valor cases involving false claims by military veterans since he started a blog on the topic in 2006.But he says few have gained the prominence of Jim Ferris, the Central New York man who is president of the nation's largest Korean War veterans group.
Ferris, 81, of Clay, admitted this week that for years he wore medals that belonged to his brother as he rose through the ranks of the Korean War Veterans Association.
Lilyea first raised questions about the honors when a tipster noted a photo of Ferris at Arlington National Cemetery in July. In the photo, Ferris was wearing a Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon he never earned as he stood next to then-Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta. read more>>>
