Feb. 14, 2013 - The sounds of “How Great Thou Art” and sad songs backed by guitar Thursday could be heard in the auditorium of the St. Cloud VA Health Care System.
It was the second day of the annual Veterans Art Competition and Show, an opportunity for veterans to display work that they’ve created.
More than 60 participated in the visual arts category, with many more participating in the creative writing and performing arts, such as dance, drama and music.
The competition and show is an annual event that allows veterans receiving treatment at VA facilities nationwide to participate.
“It’s quite a use of arts in therapy, that’s the intent of it ... for healing, for feeling better, and for self-expression,” said Beverly Gross, music therapist and organizer of the local show. read more>>>
