A decade plus and counting not only to pay for both wars, deficits started as surplus was wasted with the rubber stamping start, Before 9/11, all off the books till present administration and all borrowed and still added daily, but more Importantly nothing in added revenues, Sacrifice by the People, towards the results of these wars, added to the previous decades and war casualties of as the VA in grossly under funded, and a certain political party seeks to privatize for profit like our wars produce, especially with two more wars and veterans of!!
WASHINGTON -- 10/25/2012 -- More than 50,000 Americans have been combat-wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan since 2001, a grim measure of the cost of more than a decade of war.
According to Defense Department accounting, the number of wounded reached 50,010 on Thursday.
The names of the wounded are not released. Unlike those killed in combat, whose names are released and whose remains are brought home in sober, white-glove ceremony, those who are wounded are flown home on medical evacuation aircraft and carried off on stretchers in anonymity.
Among the wounded are some 16,000 severely injured, casualties who would have died on the battlefield just a generation ago. But new medical procedures, protective gear such as body armor and faster medical evacuation are saving more than 90 percent of all those who fall in battle. read more>>>
This war is continuing because the Country, with almost Full Support, went with the previous administration and their rubber stamping war representatives and the Abandonment of the Main Missions for even having troops sent into that region, as the first drum beat pointed at Iraq was struck! Thus no longer about 9/11 and it fed the recruitment as the hatreds rose towards not just our government policies but towards us as it All Was Done In Our Names!!
Obama as CiC is leading the military the way the troops want him to, not the officers, but those sent into theater to fight and support. Do I like or want, No, but I'm not going to second guess those still sent and when they returned aren't being taken care of fully by the Country in who the responsibility lies! As they try and get some of those Main Missions, Abandoned Years Back by the Country, Accomplished! Knowing full well that's long past possible but face saving for them as only a tiny fraction can and will be!! Does anyone see or hear any movement within the ranks, like the Huge movement we Vietnam soldiers and sailors had, to end the war quicker, they want the slow withdrawal for reasons I just gave!!
The country may Support war in these times with the legions of 'chickenhawk kombat keyboarders' blasting out that Support parroting the FOX and company, but Wars aren't fought by said 'kombat keyboaders', who haven't Sacrificed a dime along with the rest of the country, sitting in their pajama's in their bedrooms or basements!!
