The Disabled Veterans National Foundation(DVNF) applauds a decision by the government to allocate an additional $25 million for a program that keeps seniors, disabled individuals and veterans in their homes and out of institutionalized long-term care facilities.WASHINGTON, D.C. July 10, 2012 - The Disabled Veterans National Foundation(DVNF) applauds a decision by the government to allocate an additional $25 million for a program that keeps seniors, disabled individuals and veterans in their homes and out of institutionalized long-term care facilities.
The money, allocated under the Affordable Care Act, will be distributed to state Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs) that assist and advocate for the elderly and disabled and aging veterans to continue living in their own homes rather than be forced into long-term care facilities. The funds will be made available over a one- to three-year period.
Additionally, as part of the initiative, the Veterans Health Administration will funnel an additional $27 million over three years to states to help disabled veterans remain in their communities. Eight states will be selected for fast-track implementation of the program. read more>>>
