Especially in today's, and the past couple of decades, world. Even those actually going out on patrols or stationed at remote firebases are more skilled in not only using but learning quickly the new technology evolutions brought forth then those coming from the schools or in many of the private sector uses.
But alas, reaganomic free market capitalism is made to keep employment down, even for the public sector, or at low wage and benefit levels, not for economic growth!!
May 29, 2012 - I was saddened recently by some sobering statistics about our returning military veterans, who are experiencing some of the worst unemployment in our history. While the overall number stands at 7.5 percent for all veterans, the numbers are even worse for our post-9/11 vets at 9.1 percent, while our youngest returning veterans, those 18 to 24, are suffering from a disgraceful 20.2 percent unemployment rate (the national unemployment rate for this age group is only 15.8 percent by comparison).The numbers were just as alarming for specific demographic groups, with African-American and Hispanic veterans both suffering from 10.6 percent unemployment rates, and women veterans even more impacted with a 17.3 percent unemployment rate.
