Of course cases of combat theater PTS are being denied, especially with these two wars and the multiple tours, while some are being drugged, this societies easy fix for everything, and sent back into theater, because of cost considerations! Costs as to the results of wars of choice the country that cheers those on refuse to sacrifice themselves, told to go shopping this time and haven't demanded to since. This isn't forty years ago, and since, when we Vietnam Vets and the few citizens who understood gave it not only the professional label and conditions of but that it's always been including in the civilian populations. The country not only denied, some made good livings off of doing so, but ignored us and not only on this issue, over these decades, but many other costly to care for issues and that continues with each conflict as it does today with these two.
This isn't forty years ago, the medical professions have been greatly advanced especially in many area's that should bring a better understanding and more clear diagnoses to these issues. The main problem are the long term costs a country that loves wars, then flag waving parades after, still refuse to sacrifice themselves to what they owe those few who serve it. We've had decades of not only ignoring and denial but because of underfunding the Government Agency there to uphold the countries responsibility to those maimed in our wars and those few who serve and defend the country and constitution of are caught in the backlogs and more and the agency gets the blame. Instead of fully funding, which would save on costs instead of paying many times extra to constantly be catching up on the needs, the country looses interests and moves on, especially with each long war and occupation of others.
Mar 29, 2012 - The top senator on the veterans affairs panel said Wednesday that she has begun an investigation into whether military hospitals across the country are denying treatment to service members with post-traumatic stress disorder because of cost considerations.Democrat Patty Murray, the chairwoman of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee, said she decided to take the step to make sure that Army officials "don't just bury this under the rug" as they investigate the issue on their own.
"I will not be satisfied until I know that they have done an absolutely in-depth evaluation and found every soldier that may have been misdiagnosed - in a timely manner - and get them the care they need," Murray said in an interview. read more>>>
The 110th and 111th Congresses finally took on many issues that the previous two had not, and the present 112th House, with their Senate comrades, is right back to those earlier two, related to military veterans. As the country supported leaving the main mission for even being in that region after 9/11 in Afghanistan and invaded another country causing two long occupations one of which is still ongoing and most of those actually fighting in, not the officers, are seeking to accomplish at least some of that main mission, most probably knowing that line to do so was crossed years back and there's no returning to especially with the reported atrocities of war recently and in the past years.

Rachel, sorry to say again, but you're still on the wrong side of the real issues on this. You're right there with the reactive, not proactive, veterans issues of the long time national veterans groups like the VFW and Legion and now with IAVA taking same track. Parades aren't for the issues facing those serving the country, parades are for the masses who call themselves the patriots. Ask a Gulf War I veteran, thousands of them, who's been suffering from Gulf War Syndrome, that's still alive, how the New York, and rest of the countries many, parade helped them, or who has paid attention to them since.
The jobs for the returning soldiers fall under the same reasons there aren't jobs for many others, though there are other issues added for veterans of our wars. The free market capitalist aren't investing in economic growth as was supposed to be, hell these past decades they've been making their wealth off the masses and not by their own hoarded wealth, that's the new capitalism. And for all the other issues add in once again the total lack of the country demanding they sacrifice with the obstruction of some of their reps in the public funding of area's of job and innovation growth.
But hey, if you want to wave that flag, speak and listen to them words of 'support' or hold up those patriotic posters, for especially war veterans this past week and especially this weekend is the time for all that patriotic fervor to be unleashed. Most of the week have had gatherings or other types of honorings and this weekend days are being set aside in communities all over the country, even with parades. It's 'Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Days', forty some years later and after long time ignoring issues like PTS, till now, Agent Orange, TBI's of that conflict, Homelessness of our brothers and Korean vets, and oh so much more, everyone can go out and find something near them and truly show that support. So then they can go home after and ignore once more as their representatives, with their full backing, can continue laying blame on the Federal Veterans Administration as well as the States for issues like each time reports of backups to getting the needed care etc. are reported or problems with care, they can quickly find the scapegoat and not look in the mirror while still calling themselves 'patriotic'!
