21 January 2011 - A facility under construction in Carrollton will be breaking new ground in the Department of Veterans Affairs’ approach to treating disabled patients, according to its administrator.“VA has moved from traditional institutional nursing homes to community living centers,” said Gary Bruton.
He said the Trinka Davis Veterans Village, which is scheduled to open in June, will be one of very few in the nation to have a community living center in a free-standing clinic, rather than with a VA Hospital.
“This will let residents be more active in their own care,” Bruton said. “This will allow younger vets from Iraq and Afghanistan to rehabilitate in the community living center until they are able to go home.”read more>>>
