Many will come home to families, others will come back without a home waiting.
There are currently around 150 homeless veterans in Mesa County. Some believe we could see the number of homeless vets increase along with the return of others.
Community organizations that will be doing everything in their power to help returning veterans avoid the streets.
Veteran Steve Kline is still unpacking and adjusting to his new home.
"I’m still kind of getting used to things. I like it though. It's nice to have a place to come home and rest your head at the end of the day,” he said.
It’s a welcomed adjustment after living without a home for over two years.
"I’ve met a lot of vets who are homeless since I moved to Grand Junction."
But the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Housing and Urban Development announced the number of homeless vets has decreased by almost 12 percent in the last year across the country. read more>>>
