11/06/2011 - A big step forward for Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans and it's all thanks to a New Mexico soldier and his wife. They've been pushing for legislation to help victims of burn pits.
We first introduced Master Sgt. Jessey Baca back in July.
He's fighting for his life.
He's suffering from chemically induced asthma, constrictive bronchiolitis, mesophelial hyperplasia, among a long list of other things, and it's killing him.
But, he's still fighting for other soldiers just like him who are victims of burn pits.
"It's sad, but there's gonna be more, and their gonna need help. Hopefully they don't have to have such an uphill battle," said MSgt Baca.
He and his wife Maria just got back from Washington D.C.
They were there to watch their hard work come to fruition.
"We are paving the way for them to be able to not go through the problems that we have all gone through trying to get help for our soldiers," said Maria Baca.
With the help of Burn Pits 360, a national organization, the Baca's were instrumental in the creation of a bill that establishes a national registry for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. read more>>>
