Some of the new and upgraded projects in this area, I'm sure, came from the extra monies allotted to the VA by the 'Recovery Funds', as it did around the Country. For we're still in the 'No Sacrifice' by the Country now for the past decade added to the previous decades in related issues and needs of the long under funded Veterans Administration while we still wage wars! And the 112th Congress, especially the House, has already tried to cut funding to the VA Budget and their supporters approve of the attempts!
August 13, 2011 - U.S. Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand voiced support for creating a cluster of veterans services in the Saranac Lake area during a roundtable discussion Friday morning at North Country Community College.
"To make this region a center, not just for North Country veterans but for veterans around the entire country, for healing and rehabilitation makes a great deal of sense," Schumer said. "We are committed to trying to make that happen in a whole variety of ways."
"It's really inspiring and something I hope we can continue to grow here," said Gillibrand.
The senators' comments followed remarks by representatives of the many organizations and institutions in the Saranac Lake area that are working on veteran care issues. NCCC President Carol Brown described it as a "great collaboration among government, nonprofits, community and educational institutions for a single focus."

When they return to Washington next month, Schumer said he and Gillibrand plan to push a special jobs bill that would help give veterans the training to tweak the skills they learned in the military to fit available civilian jobs. It would also renew a tax credit for businesses that hire veterans and let soldiers on active duty apply for government jobs, which they can't do now until they leave the military. read more>>>
