These two wars of choice still ongoing as some, in the 112th Congressional House, have already gone after, once again and after the past five plus years trying to enhance what wasn't done as these conflicts were waged, the Veterans Administration Budget. Now the Pentagon, and a few in Congress, are looking at Military Retirement for those who serve and make the Military their Professional life for at least twenty years, some more.
Apparently everyone wants to stay away from their campaign contributors and bosses, the Military Industrial Defense Complex!
August 15, 2011 - The military retirement system has long been considered untouchable - along with Social Security and Medicare. But in these days of soaring deficits, it seems everything is a potential target for budget cutters. A Pentagon-sponsored study says military pensions are no longer untouchable - they're unaffordable.
CBS News investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reports high-level, closely-held meetings are taking place at the Pentagon regarding a radical proposal to overhaul retirement for the nation's 1.4 million service members - a bedrock guarantee of military service. read more>>>
August 15, 2011 - Evelyn Tracy and Rebekah Lane's husbands are currently stationed at Ft. Benning.
Tuesday, the two women and their soldiers, will travel about four hours away to Waycross, Georgia. They are lobbing senators about proposed changes to the military retirement system.
“I want someone in congress to understand that we've done everything that we’ve been told to do, and we’ve done it with as little complaint as possible, but to cut our benefits, is like a slap in the face,” says evenly Tracy. Tracy says her husband has been serving for seven years, serving multiple deployments along the way.
She is worried about the military's pension plan becoming similar to a 401k system.
“As is, when you retire at 20 years you start drawing those benefits the day after you retire, under the proposed cuts, you won’t be able to draw anything until you're 60-65 years old, unless you are seriously injured,” says Tracy. read more>>>
And looking at what the Stock Market has been like, these past years, as well as Wall Streets involvement with the near total collapse of the economy, the last thing that should be done are something like 401k plans if invested on the Street. Which is exactly what the money wealth want, multi-millions of small investors so they can play with that money, and it's not for business investments, and not theirs, been doing that for years now as it is.
