The House Committee on Veterans Affairs lost a real great advocate for Veterans with the change in majority thus leadership, he was doing more then a stellar job when at the top of that committee for the present veterans, that not done in the 108th and 109th congress as they rubber stamped these two wars, as well as on many long standing issues for us older veterans! Now the House leadership is back to their old long time games, blame the VA and try and cut funding while obstructing!
08 August 2011 - "Congressman says unemployment for Veterans is unacceptable"….Congressman Bob Filner commented Saturday.
Filner is currently the top Democrat on the House Veterans Affairs Committee. His comments were made following the Presidents announcement over the weekend of new initiatives to help veterans secure employment in the civilian workforce after their service. Filner said the unemployment rate for veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is a staggering 13.3 percent. He said was unacceptable. read more>>>
