This continues unabated in and around bases even overseas in theaters of opporations by contractors setting up allowed businesses on bases as well as with the families of those deployed here at home. Sure there's some legit businesses but the numbers and reports of the greed mentality with the many others is a constant, especially when we're in our wars of choice, plenty of cash to be had with the hazardous combat duty pay added to regular wages. Not only as to business practices but also to supposed 'Support the Troops' organizations, even those are reaping huge amounts much of that going directly into the compensation and perks of those at the top running them, not to the soldiers, families or veterans, some are even personal and political slush funds reaping millions and giving to political campaigns seeking legislation to easily con even more and not be regulated.
This recent report aired last night, 11 July 2011, and took place, with no shame by these carny gamers, on the 4th of July!
July 11, 2011 - FORT HOOD, Texas - At the annual Fourth of July Freedom Fest last week at Fort Hood, one of the largest military bases in the U.S., soldiers just back from war or ready to deploy were spending the day with their families.
There was no chance they would win at some of these games. The games are run by a Texas company called Century 21 Shows.
U.S. taxpayers pay Century 21 through a government contract to entertain the soldiers and families of Ft. Hood and another post in San Antonio, Texas.
This man has been a "carnie" for more than 20 years - working the carnival circuit building and managing games on the midway. We agreed to protect his identity and substitute his voice. He told us, as a military veteran, he was disgusted when learned soldiers were being ripped off by some Century 21 games.
"I couldn't rob a guy that just came back from war, has a wife and his baby in his hands and take his rent money," he says. read more>>>
We have two political parties in this country, one is hell bent on allowing businesses to police themselves, some in the other same, no regulations or extremely lax over site on any already in existence. They don't find anything wrong if the countries people, they supposedly work for, are the victims in many ways of that not policing but anything goes to gain bigger and bigger bottom lines for any business practice, even disasters that maim and kill.
