Really sorry to read this news, she was a dedicated to her fellow soldiers and veterans Military member that will be sorely missed, hopefully she'll stay working with or fighting for her sisters and brothers. And with a hope she'll either be in or return to the public arena to use her dedication and passions!
June 14, 2011 - Tammy Duckworth, a Department of Veterans Affairs official who first came to prominence as a wounded Iraq War soldier and congressional candidate, resigned her post Monday.
Duckworth, 43, had served as the VA’s assistant secretary for public and intergovernmental affairs since 2009. The Chicago Tribune reported she plans to return home to Illinois to run for Congress.
Duckworth was not in the office Tuesday and unavailable for comment, aides said.
Duckworth served “with distinction,” VA Secretary Eric Shinseki said in a statement. “Her unwavering dedication to veterans and their families has strengthened VA’s ability to perform our mission providing veterans the healthcare and benefits they have earned.” {continued}
