And why only 23 sites, and why a decade plus later, well like everything else in the long time under funded VA, especially as we send our military into wars and long occupations, the Country doesn't Demand their own Sacrifice, easier to blame the VA if negative reports arise even from those in Congress who do the funding for the wars but obstruct the funding for the results of, much to the delight of their supporters, as they also ignore us when we return, especially as to our telling of the long term results of these wars. Oh and least we forget, we have a cable channel, calling itself news, in these times who's phony journalist but opinionated anchors says there are no homeless veterans, everything is fine and dandy.
June 15, 2011 - Spokane’s Veteran’s Affairs Office has been chosen for a program that gives federal dollars to help house homeless veterans.
Spokane is one of only 23 sites in the U.S. that have been chosen for this project.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development says there are nearly 2,000 homeless veterans in Washington State. The Federal government is working to bring that number down.
The project is part of an initiative to identify unused and underutilized buildings at existing VA properties across the country.
John Davis, who works for the VA, says it is an important step in the fight against veteran homelessness.
“These are my brothers and sisters. I want to make sure we take care of them and help them off the streets, and give them a hand up,” said Davis. {continued}
