They've gained control once again of one branch of Congress, with increased numbers in the other to obstruct easier, and have returned to what they didn't do with full control as they rubber stamped all other costs for two more conflicts, full funding of the Veterans Administration at a time of enhanced needs, DeJa-Vo all over again.
Wonder why there's a continuing backlog for Veterans seeking what they deserve from their service to Country, especially as to our wars of choice, IT advances not up to or surpassing the needs to handle the true needs.
Technology within the agency has lagged greatly from the rapid advances over these past decades, though now the attempts to catch up are being pushed forward finally, while still being underfunded, because of lack of full funding needs to keep pace or even expand beyond. It isn't only in the technology needs but many other, as this new generation of combat soldier finds same faced by those of us from the past, issues as well.
The Country doesn't like 'sacrifice' while not minding expanded defense budgets and wars on others. It's easier to lay blame on an agency, when problems arise, then those who are supposed to be funding it aren't looking at themselves and those around them, that the new generation, much the same as the old, of so called conservatism!
June 2, 2011 - Veterans Affairs Department spending on information technology would have to go down slightly next fiscal year if the House Appropriations Committee gets its way.
The committee voted May 31 to send the department's annual spending bill for debate and amendment to the House floor. The committee's markup includes a reduction of $136.38 million to the VA information technology request of $3.16 billion. The committee instead would have the VA spend $3.02 billion on IT in fiscal 2012, an amount that's $25.1 million more than current fiscal year amount, the report accompanying the bill states.
Federal fiscal years begin each Oct. 1; it is now late in the third quarter of fiscal 2011. {continued}
