Ask yourself: If the Veterans Administration is so corrupt and mismanaged, as the conservative ideology, under which the seeds of are planted when they control, wants everyone to buy into as they obstruct the budgets and do extremely little after they charge same, then why does the Private sector, many problems within rarely heard about, adopt so many practices and advanced technologies developed within the VA, for free?! The VA, DoD, and in partnership with Universities and Colleges, not just Health Care are constantly in R&D and that developed that works is quickly moved into the private, for profit, sector, even as the VA is long under funded, decades, and especially during and after our wars that the few are sent into!

VA Seeks Western New York Land for Cemetery

New National Cemetery Planned


WASHINGTON – February 15, 2011 - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced today it is seeking land on which to build a new national cemetery to serve Veterans in Western New York, including the Buffalo and Rochester areas.

“Offering more burial options for Veterans in Western New York is an important priority,” said Acting Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs Steve Muro. “This expansion demonstrates VA’s commitment to provide a final resting place and lasting tribute to the men and women who sacrificed to protect our nation.”

VA is seeking expressions of interest from landowners willing to sell or donate at least 200 contiguous, developable acres in Western New York that can be developed for a new national cemetery. The land must be within the following delineated area:

§ North: From Interstate 90 (NY State Thruway), 7 miles to the north.

§ South: From Interstate 90, 7 miles to the south.

§ East: From the intersection of Interstate 90 and State Road 77 (Alleghany Road), 20 miles to the east.

+ West: From the intersection of Interstate 90 and State Road 77, 18 miles to the west.
+ Land within one (1) mile outside all boundaries will also be considered.

The new cemetery in Western New York will provide a burial option for nearly 100,000 Veterans and their eligible family members in the region. Bath National Cemetery in Bath, N.Y., the nearest open national cemetery, is approximately 80 miles southeast of the Veteran population focal point in Western New York.
