Some four decades plus we've been trying to knock the heads of the greater civilian populations, not just here, as to Combat PTS as well as Civilian PTS! Sadly it took two more wars of choice to get the attention that should have always been there as it's always been. Many civilians, especially coming from the Anti-War movement back then paid attention, other civilians did more then just pooh pooh and ignore they condemned many veterans as slackers making up what is the reality of the mental problems of war and the civilian traumatic experiences. Now we've sent many of these soldiers into two theaters over and over..........!!
Oct 04, 2010 - There were many revelations in last week's Observer series about the psychological wounds our soldiers have suffered in nine years of war.
The most disquieting is this: Our society is breathtakingly unprepared to deal with our wounded warriors' problems. While the Army and Veterans Administration are doing more than ever to help soldiers and retirees afflicted by post-traumatic stress disorder, it's nowhere near enough. The problem is far bigger than anything that can be addressed in a clinic.
The Army has tried to rise to a difficult occasion. After a series of reports found severe shortcomings in response to mental illness and suicides, the Army has sharply increased its programs and staff aimed at confronting those problems. {read rest}
