Why the general public blows off the veterans of and that the 'Support the Troops!' and their 'Patriotism' meme's, and no want to 'Sacrifice', are extremely hollow words. Lack of really understanding and frankly even wanting to! Reason only a few Actually Serve the Country and Constitution in any capacity but especially the Military!!
September 25, 2010 - Michele Anderson still bristles when she remembers some of the reactions she got from people while her husband was deployed to Kuwait.
“They would say, ‘Kuwait, that’s no big deal,’” she said. “It doesn’t matter if he was in Kentucky; a year is an awful long time.”
In the past nine years, the number of United States service members who have faced multiple and/or extended deployments is “unparalleled” for an all-voluntary military force, according to a January study published in the journal Pediatrics.
In 2006, 1.89 million U.S. children had at least one parent in the military, 1.17 million had parents in the active duty military and 7,130,000 had parents in the National Guard or Reserve military.
In the Black Hills area, 1,060 service members from Ellsworth Air Force Base have been deployed into combat in the past year. Since January, about 310 members of the South Dakota Army National Guard have been on combat deployments. Next month, another 12 will be deployed to Afghanistan. {read rest}
