Mar 16, 2010 Burlington — Last month I wrote about the efforts of the Marine Corps and the Department of the Navy to refute the claims of thousands of Marines, dependents and civilians working aboard Camp Lejeune from 1957 to 1987 for being exposed to contaminants such as trichloroethylene (TCE), perchloroethylene (PCE) and vinyl chloride via the camp’s water supply.
A couple of weeks later, Massachusetts Republican Sen. Scott Brown was named to the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs.
In response, I sent an e-mail to Colin Reed, Brown’s press secretary, explaining that nearly 3,000 Massachusetts residents had registered for the Camp Lejeune Water Study (CLWS) and asked that he make Brown aware of the situation, hoping he would advocate on behalf of those nearly 3,000 voters exposed to the contaminants.
I sent that e-mail on March 3. To date, I’ve yet to receive a reply.
Now giving Reed the benefit of the doubt, perhaps my e-mail was caught and sent to his spam or junk folder. Perhaps Brown is studying the issue as I write this. -->-->-->
